Frequently Asked Questions

Diabetes is a chronic condition where the body struggles to regulate blood sugar levels. This happens when the pancreas doesn't produce enough insulin or when the body can't effectively use the insulin it produces

Common symptoms include excessive thirst, frequent urination, unexplained weight loss, fatigue, and blurred vision.

Diagnosis involves a blood test called Hemoglobin A1C (it measures the average of the previous 3 months). A healthy Hemoglobin A1C should be less than 5.7, 5.7 to 6.4 is considered pre-diabetic while 6.5 or higher indicates diabetes.

The types of diabetes include Type 1 (where the immune system attacks insulin-producing cells) and Type 2 (insufficient insulin or ineffective use)

A healthy diet involves controlling carbohydrate intake, emphasizing whole foods, and managing portion sizes to regulate blood sugar levels.

Complications include heart disease, kidney damage, and nerve issues. Prevention involves maintaining good blood sugar control, regular check-ups, and adopting a healthy lifestyle.
